The history of the South China Agricultural University Library dates back to 1909, with a building area of 33,700 square meters. However, with the rapid development of educational spaces, modern university libraries face an unavoidable challenge: how to provide students and faculty with truly undisturbed, deep focus spaces within an open and shared environment?

As a globally leading provider of acoustic solutions for public spaces, Glawall leverages its international design vision and deep insights into university library scenarios to identify the following common pain points in library settings:
Discussions and self-study interfere with each other, greatly reducing learning efficiency.

The demand for online classes, video interviews, and voice communication cannot be met.

During peak exam periods, seats are scarce and corridor spaces are underutilized.

The Glawall Office pod is constructed with multi-material composite walls, designed to both block and absorb sound. According to SGS testing, it achieves speech noise reduction of over 29.5 decibels. Whether for impromptu discussions or online classes, sound remains securely sealed within the pod, ensuring that readers in surrounding study areas remain completely undisturbed.

The modular nature of the Glawall Office Pod allows it to be deployed flexibly in every corner of the library—whether in the reading areas on various floors of the main building, in spacious corridors, or even in dimly lit passageways.
No civil engineering is required, and the original building structure remains untouched, allowing for the rapid addition of “micro study rooms.” This not only alleviates the issue of space shortage but also ensures equitable access to private study spaces for every student and faculty member.

The collaboration between the South China Agricultural University Library and Glawall is a vivid interpretation of the "reader-centered" library philosophy. While preserving the solemn and tranquil atmosphere of a traditional library, it precisely addresses the real needs of faculty and students for diverse learning spaces by introducing modern acoustic solutions.
